Overview:
This career step requires expert level experience. Responsible for the overall delivery process of a software application or service, including design, development, testing, deployment, production application support (e.g., troubleshooting) and maintenance with a focus on automation.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Collaborate to gather and review software requirements/user stories, provide estimates, create software design specifications and collaborate with engineers/architects to assess and test hardware and software interactions. Execute a specific development methodology through application of various programming languages.Create and execute automated test plans/strategies utilizing business requirements and collaborate with engineers/architects, clients, etc. to validate test environments, test data and test results, design and implement code fixes, validate outcomes against expected results and produce associated reporting.In addition to Unit Test, responsibilities may include dynamic application security testing, interface testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing and/or user acceptance testing.Supports applications and solves configuration and environment issues.Supports the software deployment process.Define a shared technical and architectural vision focused on creating technical alignment for the full Solution rather than concerns for specific components.Architect modern solutions to identify and improve vulnerability posture across technology platforms at AT&T.Advocate best engineering practices, develop and implement strategies for reducing the lag between idea and production. Modernize continuous integration and continuous delivery tooling and processes.Ensure all micro-services are in a well-maintained state aligned to the company’s long-term deployment and technology goals.Participate in postmortems for all services and use the insights to identify team focus areas.Ensure that common technology, design practices, and infrastructure are used when applicable.Facilitate the reuse of code, components, and proven patterns; Influence common modeling, design, and coding practices.Identify architecture optimizations that improve cost and/or reliability and execute collaboratively with service owners.Work with stakeholders, customers, Enterprise Architects, Network Engineers, and development teams to align the architectural direction.Qualifications:
Expert level technical professional with 8-10 years of experience.High degree of prophecy in at least 3 of the following languages or environments: Java, Maven, Spring Boot along with familiarity with frontend languages like Node.js., Angular, JavaScript.Strong knowledge in Application security, Authentication and Authorization framework.Experience with public cloud environments Azure, AWS or GCP.Experience with all features of Kubernetes from standard abstractions like pods and secretes to more advanced features. Experience with container deployments with Docker as primary container platform.Repeatable provisioning in the cloud with infrastructure as code using tools like terraform, Azure DevOps, AWS Cloud Formation.Experience setting up Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines using tools like GitHub Enterprise, Spinnaker, Azure DevOps.Strong technical background, understating of micro-service architecture and modern software delivery practices.Thrives in ambiguous situations.Must be articulate, persuasive, diligent and innovative to present complex, often untried solutions, to executives and obtain their buy-in.Supervisory: No.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in DevOps practices.Participated in a data center to cloud migrations.Our Principal Software Engineering earns between $158,200.00 - $237,400.00, USD annually. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
