POSITION: Associate Director - Release Management (Technology)
JOB Location: 208 S. Akard Street Dallas, TX 75202 [and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.; may work from home]
Duties: AT&T Services, Inc. is looking for an Associate Director - Release Management (Technology) in Dallas, TX [and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.; may work from home] to support highly performant systems that deliver AT&T’s customer experience across multiple internet-facing eCommerce applications, databases, platforms and technology stacks. Ensure zero downtime Deployments for Digital Microservices by managing end to end Release process for AT&T.com. Identify standardization and automation opportunities for deployment processes to create a low touch deployment pipeline. Partner with Infrastructure and operations teams: Site reliability, Performance and Security to perform testing for web applications. Facilitate release planning and status meetings by identifying issues and risks associated with release including tracking of deliverables with product managers through various Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) phases. Execute and manage zero downtime deployments for Digital Web Applications on various platforms. Develop a Roll out plan for releases to update stakeholders, work with change management for approvals and provide leadership and expertise in development of new projects. Utilize Subject Matter Expert level knowledge of various products, manage release cycles and assist with troubleshooting during production incidents. Manage third party vendor contracts and negotiations and a team of direct reports. Interact with business stakeholders and developers to modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new software and improve performance, and assess the impact of planned changes on costs. Streamline overall Release and deployment process by implementing cost effective technical solutions. Independently manage multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously. Ensure timely resolution of critical and/or complex problems with different platforms in multiple environments including project management, business stakeholders and operations. Partner with senior operations leaders to develop and institute a strategy of best practices for risk assessment. Release execution planning, dependency mapping, as well as conflict resolution to minimize customer impacts related to any release or incident/problem. Evolve in-house and open source deployment automation tools to integrate them with company’s release process in the best possible way. Oversees (7) Senior System Engineers and (1) Senior Release Manager.
REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree, in Finance, Accounting, or Information Technology and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or two (2) years of experience in a related occupation partnering with senior operations leaders to develop and institute a strategy of best practices for risk assessment; releasing execution planning, dependency mapping, as well as conflict resolution to minimize customer impacts related to any release or incident/problem; identifying standardization and automation opportunities for deployment processes to create a low touch deployment pipeline; evolving in-house and open source deployment automation tools to integrate them with company’s release process in the best possible way; and streamlining overall release and deployment process by implementing cost effective technical solutions.
